Why Isn’t My Boiler Working Properly?
Are you experiencing problems with your boiler? You’re certainly not alone! Most homeowners will experience an issue with their boilers, at some point. The trick is to know what to look for. Knowing what the most common types of boiler problems are will help you be able to spot the problem quickly – then, you can call a professional for repairs as soon as possible. Here are the most common boiler repair issues, to help you determine why your boiler is not working properly:
- Leaks. If your boiler is leaking water, this could mean a variety of things. One important note: You should never, under any circumstances, attempt to fix your leaking boiler on your own. This is dangerous, and is thus always best left to the pros.
- No Hot Water. If you don’t have any hot water, this could mean that your boiler’s pressure is malfunctioning, or there may be problem with your thermostat. Other causes may include: failure of motorized valves, broken diaphragms, or low water levels.
- Weird Noises. If you hear strange noises coming from your boiler, this could mean that there is air in your system, or the water pressure is too low. It’s best to check with a professional, on this one.
- Faulty Pilot. Did your pilot light go out, or stop working? This could be due to a broken thermocouple, or built-up debris in the pilot light. If you’re going to try relighting your pilot yourself, be sure to check that there is nothing wrong with your gas supply, first.
